Homogenisation is an important process in the milk-processing and fat-processing industries. For a targeted and reproducible process, the pressure conditions in the pump aggregate must be precisely monitored or regulated.

    Geri dönüşüm
The analogue output of the PY9000 pressure sensor is connected to the control of the piston pump and the user can define the pressure corridor for adjusting the aggregate to the nozzle gap.

    Müşteriye sağladığı yararlar
The drift-free and long-term stable ceramic measuring cell of PY9000 does not require the, otherwise common, diaphragm seal. The patented tried-and-tested measuring cell support ensures long-term and reliable operation. Using the additional switching output of the sensor, an emergency switch-off can be triggered within just a few milliseconds when a predefined maximum pressure is exceeded.

At the end of the production chain ice-cream cones coming from below are brought into horizontal position by 12 vacuum grippers. If the ice-cream or the cone are defective, the vacuum gripper cannot lift the ice-cream. The ice-cream falls into a collecting pan. A sensor must detect this to prevent that an empty film packaging gets into the further packaging process.

    Geri dönüşüm
So far, photoelectric sensors used to be installed which could only be positioned underneath the vacuum grippers. Constantly falling cones or pieces of ice-cream caused soiling of the sensors which in turn led to a failure. The efector pmd optical distance sensor from ifm now installed detects the ice-cream cone from a safe distance.

    Müşteriye sağladığı yararlar
Due to the long range of efector pmd it could be mounted in a position from where it looks at the ice-cream from the front. Advantage: No crumbs can fall on the sensors and interfere. The sensor also detects if all the ice-cream falls down from the vacuum gripper. Dark surfaces such as a chocolate coating are also reliably detected even against a very shiny stainless steel background. Furthermore "zero fault production" without a waste of resources (film packaging) is achieved. So this investment has paid off after already a very short time.

In cheese presses the remaining whey of the curd in a cheese mould is forced out by mechanical pressure. After filling the press numerous compressed air cylinders apply the required pressure.

    Geri dönüşüm
ifm through-beam sensors of the OG wetline series monitor the correct function of the compressed air cylinders in each string of the press.

    Müşteriye sağladığı yararlar
If after pressing a compressed air cylinder does not return to its initial position, emptying the cheese press can lead to damage and downtime. This can be avoided by detecting the individual cylinders.

Everywhere in the food industry valves are used for shutting off, monitoring and controlling. They are decisive components for the safety, accuracy and reliability of plants. In order to reliably fulfil this task, sensors on the actuators of the valves are required in order to transmit the current valve positions to the controller or process control system via common interfaces.

    Geri dönüşüm
Conventionally, magnetic or inductive proximity switches assume this task. They signal end stops such as "open” or "closed” to the controller by means of a switched signal. However, the detection of intermediate positions is of increasing interest. It allows the recording of cleaning cycles for rising stem valves and the detection and visualisation of unwanted operating states by a continuous valve detection. This meets the increasing requirements of modern process visualisation. The complete set from ifm electronic includes everything required for the automation of a rising stem valve: rising stem valve sensor, adapter and an operating element made of stainless steel. Quick installation of the adapter and easy switch point teaching by pressing a pushbutton on the sensor reduce the installation time.

    Müşteriye sağladığı yararlar
As a result of the optimum distribution of force at the interfaces from the sensor to the adapter and the adapter to the actuator, this system is insensitive to mechanical stress such as vibration. Different adapters are available depending on valve manufacturer and type. This allows quick and easy installation.

In cheese production different types of presses are used. Pressure is used to withdraw the remaining liquid from the curd by means of pneumatically driven cylinders. Compressed air is one of the most expensive industrially used carriers of energy. Therefore, the optimisation of its consumption and the knowledge where the consumption takes place is increasingly important. Huge cost savings can be made by repairing leaks.

    Geri dönüşüm
The compressed air of the pneumatic cylinders is monitored by the efector metris compressed air meter (SD series). efector metris is based on the calorimetric measuring principle. It incorporates two temperature-dependent measuring elements which are inserted into the pipe. One element is heated, the second is used as a reference for the medium temperature. The flowing medium cools down the heated measuring element. The heating power which is employed is proportional to the volumetric flow. The mechanical structure, combined with modern microprocessor technology provides a multitude of applications, evaluations and an intelligent signal processing.

    Müşteriye sağladığı yararlar
With the efector metris compressed air consumption meter, ifm electronic provides the user with a low-cost opportunity to precisely measure the current as well as the total consumption. To do so, the sensor is mounted and adjusted in a pipe length at the factory. Due to the high sensitivity even smallest quantities, like those which for example occur in case of leakage, are detected at an early stage and can be remedied. Binary, analogue and pulse outputs, the display of current and accumulated flow as well as further functions provide a variety of options to gain informative measurement data and to process them in the control system or in the process. The fast response time of 100 milliseconds also permits the detection of quick changes or compressed air peaks. Furthermore, efector metris distinguishes itself by its high measurement dynamics of 1 : 300. The measuring principle as well as the constructive design of the sensors make a measuring accuracy of ± 3% of the measuring value + 0.3% of the final value of the measuring range possible.

The sensor is immediately locked in the slot by its self-locking mechanism. The new cylinder sensors use an AMR sensing element. This operates to the magnetoresistive principle. The AMR cell has an extremely sensitive reaction to magnetic fields. So the sensors can be used wherever exact position detection and small hysteresis are important, e.g. with short-stroke cylinders.

Flow sensors of the SI6000 series monitor the pump. Dry running and thus damage to the pump are effectively prevented.

    Müşteriye sağladığı yararlar
Due to its high protection rating IP 69K the robust stainless steel housing provides high security even in harsh environments. Adjustment to the flow and setting of the switch points are carried out by simply pressing a pushbutton. A multicolour LED locally indicates flow and the switch points. The high repeatability of the switch points offers an optimum choice for use. The sensor can be individually adjusted using the teach function. Electronic locking of the settings provides additional safety. The flow sensor is suitable for medium temperatures up to 120°C. Thanks to a broad selection of process adapters the flow sensors can easily be integrated in almost any application.
